REBO touched down in Florida this week to continue the REBO tour. First up, Countryside Country Club, a Club Corp facility set in Clearwater.
With 14 floodlit outdoor tennis courts, Countryside Country Club ranks among the highest tennis programs in the city. On court the focus was on consistency and correct shot choice, teaching the youngsters how to spot the right ball to attack and when it’s necessary to defend.
Their task on the wall was learning to work together to get the longest rally whether it be groundstrokes or volleys. The kids started off trying to get a rally of 10 on their own and then challenge each other to reach a new high score, each time trying to reach ten shots higher. Next was learning how to improve volley control against the wall and the importance of footwork. We mixed up the sequences starting with two shots each, then alternating between forehand and backhand volleys and lastly one volley each with the whole group.
